Last but Not Least

This is the final card from the class.
Although not the easiest of cards to make, or send.
It is always useful to have a sympathy card ready.

Next Patchwork Quilt

It's official, I am addicted to patchwork.
My first quilt is only just finished but I am already starting on the next one.

I got these fabrics from Liberty's in London and I am using them to make a quilt for Graham.
I have promised Neil that we will look at more fabric soon, so he can choose something he likes for his bed.

I need 20 of these squares for the quilt. So far I have assembled 5, but everything is already cut out and marked. Just need to get sewing !!

More Feathers

This was the male card that we made at the card class.
Just by using darker colours can change a card so easily.
We then used the Colour Spritzer tool to break up the empty space.

The Artful Readers Club April 2013

Before I tell you all about the book I read this month, I have just realised that today is my 3rd Anniversary as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.
I love my job and if anyone from France, Germany, Austria, The Netherlands or the UK is interested in knowing more about the benefits of become a Stampin' Up! Demo then just get in touch with me at  alisonplumm@gmail.com

So on to my book.
This month I read  for the Artful Readers Club

The Redemption of Alexander Seaton by S G MacLean

I didn't really know what to expect when I started the book, I got it because it was a free book on my kindle.  But I did enjoy it quite a lot, so much so, that I have already brought the sequels.

The story is set in the 1620s in the North East of Scotland.
On a wild, stormy night in Banff, Alexander is coming home from the pub, slightly the worse for wear, when he sees Patrick Davidson struggling in the street. Alexander chooses to ignore Patrick's cries for help.
Next morning, Patrick is found dead at Alexander's desk in his classroom.

Although it is a murder mystery novel, a good half of the book sets up the scene up why Alexander Seaton needs redemption.

I loved the slow pace of the book that seems to speed up near the end as you wait to find out who the murderer is.  The characters are all well developed and you can feel the difficulties of life in the rural countryside of northern Scotland in their actions and words.

One of the main themes of the book is the strict religious ways of all the characters and how much power the town sheriff has.
There is a Scottish glossary at the back of the book which helps with all the Scottish terms.

All in all a faboulous book.

Birthday Girl

Following on from yesterday's pink card, here is another pink one.
This time it is Regal Rose, remember that this is one of the colours that will not be here for much longer, so don't forget to stock up while you can.

I think that it is a great colour for little girl cards.
Here I have teamed it up with Tempting Turquoise and Early Espresso, with a little Primrose Petal Core'dinations card stock.

New Home

This is the second card we made at the card class.

I had intended to emboss the door with an embossing folder, but my order was strangely sent to Denmark from Paris and then back to Germany before finally getting here 3 days later.

So the door stayed plain instead of being a wood effect.

It opens up to show the hall wallpaper.
