Scrapbook Sunday #129

Happy Easter everyone !!

Hope you have lots of family time and chocolate to enjoy today.

When I saw this frame a few weeks ago, I couldn't resist buying one. I can just see me updating it every season with some new papers, photos and embellishments.

This time round, I have used some photos of my parents, the boys and myself on holiday last summer.

J'espère que vous avez beaucoup de temps en famille et du chocolat à déguster aujourd'hui.

Quand j'ai vu ce cadre il ya quelques semaines, je ne pouvais pas résister à en acheter un. Je peux juste me voir la mise à jour à chaque saison avec des nouveaux papiers, des photos et des embellissements.

Cette fois-ci, j'ai utilisé quelques photos de mes parents, les garçons et moi-même en vacances l'été dernier.

Less Is More Scallops

As many, including all the men in this family, sit back to enjoy a new season of Doctor Who, I sigh with relief that I can now get on the computer on a Saturday evening !!

So to celebrate I have made a card for the Less Is More challenge with is Scallops this week.

I have used a circle punch to create some large scallops before adding just a touch of colour with a Wisteria Wonder scalloped border and a thank you sentiment, to keep the card quite clean and simple.

Comme beaucoup, y compris tous les hommes de cette famille, qui s'asseoir de profiter de la  nouvelle saison de Doctor Who, je soupire avec soulagement que je peux maintenant obtenir l'ordinateur le samedi soir !!

Donc, pour célébrer j'ai fait une carte pour le challenge Less Is More qui est des Festonné cette semaine.

J'ai utilisé un perforation cercle pour créer des grosses festonnées avant d'ajouter une touche de couleur avec une bordure festonnée Galante Glycine et un sentiment merci de garder la carte assez propre et simple.

Artful Readers Club March

Welcome back to a new month of the Artful Readers Club.

This month I listened to a book rather than read it.

My book choice was The Gallows Curse by Karen Maitland.

I honestly can't praise this book enough !!

I loved it from the first sentence to the last. 

This is the 3rd book that I have listened to by Karen Maitland, the books are read by David Thorpe and he really brings all the characters to life. I don't know if I read one of the books if I would enjoy is as much without all the voices of David.

We are transported back to the year 1210 where King John is the ruler of England and having fallen out with the Pope, England is living under an interdict. So people cannot be blessed in life or death and some have turned to witchcraft to help themselves.

Elena, our young heroine, is given a job in the Manor House by Master Rafaelle, to serve the Lady Anne, but unbeknown to her it is to take the sins of Lady Anne's son, Gerard, through witchcraft.

In turn, Elena must turn to witchcraft as well, when she starts having terrible nightmares in which she sees that she is going to murder her newborn baby.

I really loved that each chapter starts with a little passage from the Mandrakes Herbal.

Elena gets her mandrake from Gytha, the local cunning woman, to help her see the end of her dreams. But she needs to feed it bodily fluids to bring it alive.

All of Karen Maitland's book finished with a huge twist in the tale,
and The Gallows Curse is no exception.

So I can't give too much of the plot away without spoiling the end for you.

I would definitely recommend all of Karen's books and I can't wait to listen to the next one.

Cupcake Time

I haven't made a cupcake card for such a long time, 

that I thought that I should get busy making them again.

This card has no stamping at all, just punches and dies for the Big Shot.

I have used the Hexagonal embossing folder with the Primpose Petals Core'dinations card stock, then sanded the raised edges to give a distressed look

Poorly Boy

If anything is going to bring you crashing back down to earth after such a memorable weekend, it's spending the next night changing bed clothes after someone who's sick :-(

I don't know how, but Graham picked up a bug somewhere along our travels,

 and fortunately just him.

I gave him this little card to make him feel better yesterday.

Si quelque chose devais se passer pour vous apporter vite vers la terre après un tel week-end mémorable, c'est de passer la nuit suivante, changant le linge de lit de quelqu'un qui est malade :-(

Je ne sais pas comment, mais Graham a ramassé un gastro quelque part dans nos déplacements,
et heureusement que lui.

Je lui ai donné cette petite carte pour qu'il se sente mieux hier

Our Weekend

Biffy Clyro

 As I said on my last post, I had a busy weekend planned.

We headed off the the UK on Friday night so that Graham and I could go and see our favourite band, Biffy Clyro play in Sheffield on Saturday evening.

 Comme je le disais dans mon dernier post, j'ai eu un week-end chargé.

Nous sommes partis au Royaume-Uni vendredi soir afin que Graham et moi pourrions aller voir notre groupe préféré, Biffy Clyro, chante à Sheffield samedi soir.

 This was Graham's first concert and he loved it.

It was loud and utterly amazing !!

 C'était le premier concert de Graham et il a adoré.
C'était bruyant et tout à fait incroyable!

Saturday 23rd March

 One thing that we hadn't expected when we booked our tickets ages ago, was snow.

Yes, really, snow !! I didn't take any photos of it, but every time I went outside it surprised me.

When we left Lyon on Friday afternoon, it was nearly 20°C, at 10.30pm in Manchester it was 0°C.

 Une chose que nous n'avions pas prévu lorsque nous avons réservé nos billets il ya longtemps, c'était de la neige.
Oui, vraiment, la neige! Je n'en ai pas pris aucune photos, mais à chaque fois je suis allée dehors ça m'a surprise.
Quand nous avons quitté Lyon vendredi après-midi, il était à peu près 20°C, à 22h30 à Manchester, il était 0°C.

And I would like to thank Julie for looking after Neil for me while I was in Sheffield.

Just think that without Stampin' Up!, we would never have been able to go to the concert !!

Et je tiens à remercier Julie pour s'occuper de Neil pour moi alors que j'étais à Sheffield.
Il suffit de penser que, sans Stampin 'Up!, nous n'aurions jamais pu aller au concert !!

 We got back late due to all the snow but 

have great memories to last forever of our sneaky weekend back home !!

Nous sommes rentrés tard à cause de la neige, mais
garde d'excellents souvenirs qui dureront pour toujours de notre week-end de retour chez nous !!
