Artful Readers Club August 2013

Welcome back for another review in this year's challenge with Darcy, the Artful Readers Club.

This month I read Life of Pi by Yann Martel.

It was on Graham's reading list for the school holidays, so we decided to read it at the same time, but as a 14 year old doesn't have to wash, iron, cook and clean - he finished quite a bit before me and then kept asking if this or that had happened yet !!!

I think because the book has already been made into a film, I wasn't looking forward to reading it.

 I don't know why as I've not seen the film yet, but there was just something putting me off.

But I can now say that I loved it, even if I was a bit surprised by the ending - I'm not going to spoil it for you but I probably could have finished about 20 pages earlier and still been happy.

I loved reading about the zoo in Ponticherry, Pi's home town. I had a little chuckle about his name and his uncle. I was on the edge of my seat a few times as Pi and Richard Parker travelled across the Pacific Ocean. I felt Pi's pain in the hot sun and the sting of salt water. I felt his relief at meeting other humans. I understood his difficulty in choosing just one religion.

 I would recommend this book as I really felt the sense of adventure that I haven't got out of a book for ages. Although I would never get on a cargo ship crossing the Pacific !!!!

It might have been over 30C last week when I did this scrapbook page, but I am getting ready for Christmas in my craft room already.

I have used some new products from our upcoming Autumn/Winter catalogue, as well as some favourites which are still available from last year.

Swaps Recieved Part 1

I have started making up the swaps I received as part of the shoebox swap.

Here are the first four from Nicola, Elaine, Valerie and Fiona.

I have most of these sets which means that I can redo some more of my favourites but I don't have (yet!!!) By The Seashore - but it looks lovely doesn't it.

Shoe Box Swap

I recently took part in a Shoe Box Swap with 14 other demos in the UK.

I haven't made all the cards yet, but this is the card that I made to share.

Flower Shop is a new stamp set that has a matching punch, and may finally replace Greenhouse Garden that I loved from a few years ago.

I'll show you the other cards once I have made them all up.

 

J'ai récemment participé à une echange boîte à chaussures avec 14 autres démos au Royaume-Uni.

J'ai n'ai pas encore fait toutes les cartes, mais c'est la carte que j'ai faite à partager.

Flower Shop est un nouveau jeu de tampons qui a une perfo correspondant, et peut enfin remplacer Greenhouse Garden que j'aimais il y a quelques années.

Je vais vous montrer les autres cartes une fois que je les ai toutes faites.

Stampers Club/ Club des Hôtesses

For the last couple of year's I have run a virual Stampers Club over the Stampin' Up! year, which allows you to buy a little every month and get the hostess benefits once in the year.

This year's club will start again in October and run until May next year.

I will confirm the months once I know how many people would like to join this time around.

It is a great way to add to your craft supplies and get some hostess Euros without having to hold a Stampin' Up! party in your home. And each order is delivered with a handmade thank you card, a project for you to make at home and occasionnally a little extra gift from me !!

If 6 people join up then you will need to commit to 6 orders of 35 Euros each over 6 months,

7 people will make 7 orders of 29 Euros etc, etc.

If you would like more information about this group or want to join then get in touch with me.

Once I know how many people have joined, I will let you know the months for ordering and which month you will be the hostess.

Postage is free if you can collect from me and 5 Euros for orders sent by post.

Pour les deux dernières de l'année de J'ai dirigé un Club des Hôtesses virual sur l'année Stampin 'Up!, ce qui vous permet d'acheter un peu chaque mois et bénéficiez des avantages d'hôtesse une fois dans l'année.

Le club cette année débutera à nouveau en Octobre et se poursuivra jusqu'au mois de mai prochain.

Je confirmerai les mois une fois je sais combien de gens aimeraient se joindre cette fois-ci.

C'est un excellent moyen d'ajouter à vos fournitures créatif et d'obtenir quelques euros d'hôtesse sans avoir à tenir une Stampin 'Up! fête dans votre maison. Et chaque commande est livrée avec une main carte de remerciement, un projet pour vous de faire à la maison et occasionnellement un petit cadeau supplémentaire de moi!

Si 6 personnes rejoignent alors vous aurez besoin de s'engager à 6 commandes de 35 euros chacune plus de 6 mois,

7 personnes feront 7 commandes de 29 Euros etc, etc

Si vous souhaitez plus d'informations sur ce groupe ou si vous voulez rejoindre alors prendre contact avec moi.

Une fois que je sais combien de personnes ont rejoint, je vous le ferai savoir les mois pour passer commande et quel mois vous serez l'hôtesse.

 Frais de port sont gratuit si vous pouvez collecter chez moi et 5 euros pour les commandes envoyées par la poste.

Male Grunge

Ages ago, I made a female version of this card using pinks, yellows and blues.

Today I have made the male version using the This and That Washi tape and Tape It stamp set in similiar colours.

I can't help thinking that these splodges from Gorgeous Grunge will hide a multitude of mistakes if needed !!

Il ya longtemps, j'ai fait une version féminine de cette carte en utilisant des roses, jaunes et bleus.
Aujourd'hui, j'ai fait la version masculine en utilisant la ruban adhésif This and That avec le set Tape It en couleurs correspondantes.

Je ne peux pas m'empêcher de penser que ces taches Du Gorgeous Grunge se cachent une multitude d'erreurs si nécessaire !!

First One

Since I have started thinking about this year's Christmas Club, here is a card that I made in July, just after I mounted my Six Sided Sampler stamp set.

I used the rubber that the hexagons came in as a template that I sprayed with the Vanilla Smooch Spritz to create a sparkly background.

I used my new Bermuda Bay ribbon and matching Candy Dots to finish it off.

Depuis que j'ai commencé à penser à mon Noël du Club de cette année, voici une carte que j'ai fait en Juillet, juste après j'ai monté mon set de tampons Six Sampler Sided

J'ai utilisé le caoutchouc que les hexagones sont venus en tant que modèle que j'ai pulvérisé avec la vanille Smooch Spritz pour créer un arrière-plan brillant.

J'ai utilisé mon nouveau ruban Bay des Bermudes et correspondant Pois Sucrés pour le finir.

Christmas Club 2013

I know it's early to be talking about Christmas, but if you want to make all your own cards for the holidays then you need to start thinking about it now.

My Annual Christmas Club will be starting again on September 14th, when we will be making 10 cards, 2 designs and 5 of each.

If you would like to join me this year then I have held my prices from last year.

It will be 15 Euros per month (if you bring your own glue), 20 Euros if you need me to provide your glue OR an incredible

50 Euros for all 4 classes, if you pay in September.

Get in touch to book your place and get Christmas under control early !!

Je sais qu'il est trop tôt pour parler de Noël, mais si vous voulez faire vos propres cartes pour les fêtes, alors vous devez commencer à penser à ce sujet maintenant.

I found a few photos of Graham and his Grandad having fun together.

So I made a double page layouts showing them together.

Mosaic Quickness

I needed a quick and easy card, 

so I got my Mosaic Madness stamp set and matching papers out 

to create this bright and cheery card.

I think it must be the summer but I'm loving making really bright cards at the moment.

J'avais besoin d'une carte rapide et facile,
alors j'ai pris mon set Mosaic Madness et de papiers correspondant
pour créer cette carte lumineuse et gaie.

Je pense que ce doit être l'été, mais je suis éprise de faire des cartes vraiment brillants pour le moment.

Pink and Green

More paper from the new paper stacks, this time I have used Old Olive from the Brights Collection.

I matched it up with Strawberry Slush one of the the new In Colours for 2013/2015.

Isn't is lush !!

 Plus de papier à partir des nouveaux blocs de papier, cette fois je l'ai utilisé Vert olive de la collection de Brillants.
J'ai faite correspondre avec Bavarois de Framboise l'un des des nouveaux In Colours pour 2013/2015.
N'est-ce pas est luxuriante !!

Flower Box

I found a tutorial on Pinterst to make a 3D flower using the flower punch.

I used the new paper stacks to decorate the box and make the flower. 

The new patterns in these paper stacks are so good and for only 25.95 Euros you get 40 sheets of 12 x 12 papers in all the colour families.

J'ai trouvé un tutoriel sur Pinterst de faire une fleur 3D en utilisant le perfo Pivoine fleur.

J'ai utilisé les nouvelles blocs de papier pour décorer la boîte et faire la fleur.

Les nouvelles motifs en ces blocs de papier sont si bons et pour seulement 25,95 euros, vous obtenez 40 feuilles de 30 x 30 papiers dans toutes les familles de couleurs.

For my birthday, I got a new instant camera.

So I have been taking photos of the family with it.

Here is Neil looking cute.

I have done quite a simple page where he is the star attraction.

Pour mon anniversaire, j'ai reçu un nouvel appareil photo instantané.
Donc, je prends des photos de la famille avec.

Voici Neil qui a l'air mignon.

Blue Backgrounds

This card started off differently in my head, but I am pleased with how it ended out on card.

I used the set Happy Day to created a random background using Bermuda Bay and Soft Sky inks.
Then I ripped it into strips, I know me ripping !?!?

I finished it with a flower and one of the sentiments from the same set.
